The Transit System, Inc. (TTS), under Texas Transportation Code Chapter 458, serves as a rural transit district for Hood and Somervell Counties and all the cities within, therefore receives state funding for rural transit service. TTS operates demand-response service for the general public throughout the service area and allows trips outside the service area as long at the trip begins or ends within the service area. TTS also operates non-emergency medical transportation services under a contract with A2C, Modivcare, and SafeRide. Other transportation service is provided through agreements with several local agencies, including area agencies on aging, a program for veteran transportation through Pecan Valley Centers, NCTCOG (for seniors who need transportation outside the county in which they live), local nursing homes, churches, and other social service agencies.
